Río Celeste
The famous sky-blue waterfall in Tenorio Volcano National Park.
About Río Celeste
Río Celeste is famous for one thing: a waterfall the color of the sky, deep inside Tenorio Volcano National Park. The base town of Bijagua sits between two volcanoes and is one of the country's quietest, greenest, and most rewarding stops.
When to go
The blue is most vivid a day or two after rain and least visible right after a downpour. February through April usually offers the best balance.
Getting there
About 3.5 to 4 hours from San José, or roughly 2 hours from La Fortuna.
