Rainforest Night Walk
Seventy percent of the forest only comes out after dark
Overview
Most of the animals people come to Costa Rica hoping to see are nocturnal, and this is the walk where you actually meet them. Two hours on the reserve's trails with flashlights, led by guides who know which specific heliconia leaf the red-eyed tree frogs sleep under and which burrow the tarantula uses. Expect frogs of several species, kinkajous, sleeping toucans and motmots, walking sticks, sleeping lizards and often an eyelash viper. Groups are capped at twelve so everyone gets a proper look rather than a glimpse over someone's shoulder.
