Tenorio Volcano National Park
Rainforest trails, bubbling hot springs and the sky-blue Río Celeste waterfall.
About Tenorio Volcano National Park
Tenorio Volcano National Park protects the rainforest around Tenorio Volcano, north of La Fortuna near Bijagua. Its main trail leads to the Río Celeste waterfall, the blue lagoon, Los Teñideros where the river turns blue, and natural hot springs.
When to go
The river's blue color is clearest in drier weather. February through April usually offers the best balance; the park may close the trail after heavy rain.
