Arenal Volcano Hike, Lunch & Hot River
Lava flow, casado lunch, free thermal river
Overview
The best-value full day in Arenal. A late-morning start on the 1968 lava flow, a proper casado lunch, and then several hours in the free thermal river that runs off the volcano - geothermally heated water in an open riverbed under the trees, with a volcanic mud mask included. The resorts charge sixty to ninety dollars for water from the same source; this is the local version, and most people end up staying in it longer than they planned. Six dollars more than the hike alone buys you lunch and the river.
