Mistico Hanging Bridges
Six suspension bridges through primary rainforest canopy
Overview
Mistico Park is 250 hectares of primary rainforest on Arenal's northern flank, and its 3 km circuit runs six suspension bridges and ten fixed ones through the canopy. Walking at canopy height changes what you see - you are level with toucans, oropendolas and sloths instead of looking up at silhouettes. The trail is wide, well-surfaced and gently graded, so it works for children and for anyone who does not want to scramble. Guides carry telescopes and know where the resident sloths and eyelash vipers sit. Volcano views open up from the longest bridge on clear mornings. Both departures are guided; the 8:40 is the wildlife-active one.
