Volcano Hike, Lunch, Mistico Hanging Bridges & Hot River
Lava flow below, canopy bridges above
Overview
A later start than most Arenal combos, which means you skip the morning coach rush at Mistico. The day pairs the 1968 lava flow - black rock, young forest, Lake Arenal below - with the Mistico hanging bridges, six suspension bridges strung through the canopy of primary rainforest on the volcano's northern flank. Walking at canopy height is where the wildlife happens: you are eye-level with toucans, and the guides carry telescopes for sloths and eyelash vipers. Lunch sits between the two, and the day ends in the free thermal river with a volcanic mud mask.
